OUR HORSES

Donnie Darko

Donnie is a 19-year-old registered Paint gelding. He has done it all from roping, hunters, ranch pleasure, barrel racing, therapeutic riding, and has driven numerous 2 and 4 wheel carts in parades, community days and horse shows. In one year Donnie has competed successfully in the State 4-H Finals horse show in both the Gymkhana events and Pleasure driving. He has also won Reserve Champion in the showmanship category at the State Finals out of 102 horses. And last but not least, we hook the sled to Donnie when it snows!

Baby Doll

Baby Doll is a Welsh/Shetland pony cross in her mid-twenties. At 10.2 hands, she has competed in horse shows and hunter paces with her young riders. Baby Doll is the kindest pony mare you will ever meet, an irreplaceable asset to our program.

Rockin Rodder, aka "Rowdy"

Rowdy is a 15-year-old Quarter Horse gelding who was an All-Around show horse. Rowdy's name does not give him justice, he is as quiet as the day is long and loves his job as a lesson, camp, and therapeutic riding horse.

Wesley

Wesley is a bay 10-year-old Quarter Horse gelding who was a former western pleasure show horse. He is more like a puppy than a horse, because he loves pets and hugs so much! He thoroughly enjoys participating in Heartland Horse Heroes activities.

Chunky Monkey

Chunky is a 24 year old Percheron Paint Draft. He joined Heartland Horse Heroes in the fall of 2024, when we opened up the program to the Middle and High School students. When he is not being a super star in our program you can find him hanging on the trail or just being pampered by his Dad, Josh.

Prince

Prince is a 24 year old Standardbred Valentine's Day baby (that's why his heart is so big). He loves the children, scratches, and cookies almost as much as he enjoys jumping fences in the Hunter Ring with his human Shy. We are thankful she doesn't mind sharing him.

Daisy

Daisy has been a participant in summer camps for 15 years. She is a two time 4-H Reserve State Champion who also has many miles as hunter jumper show pony. In her late 20's she is living a well deserved easier life taking care of our Heartland students.

Sandman

Sandman is 21, he has been a member of the family since he was 9. He was quite the showman in Western Pleasure winning many accolades. He prefers the slower pace teaching riders to learn skills on his smooth gates at Sprouse's Corner Ranch
